READ-A-THON
Hawthorne enjoyed a very successful Read-A-Thon from March 3-7.  This week was filled with a lot of fun and celebrated the importance of reading.   Our school community should be proud of the 1500 books that were donated to the "Books for Me" organization which re-distributes resources to families in need.   As well,  the Read-A-Thon pledges raised over $4000  in support of our PAC and the many initiatives they are involved in at the school.   Thank you to all of our families for their support and special thanks to our PAC coordinators (Mrs. Ranu, Mrs. Pryce and Mrs. Lawless) for all of their hard work in preparation for this event.  Well done Hawthorne!

TALENT SHOW
Parents are reminded that we will be hosting Hawthorne's Talent Show 2014 tomorrow (Friday, March 14th) at 2pm.   We have a great variety of performers scheduled to entertain and you are welcome to join us for the fun.

HOOPSHOOT
Hawthorne enjoyed a very successful experience at Delta Parks and Recreation's Hoopshoot challenge on Tuesday, March 11th.  For this event,  we formed teams of three students (gr. 5-7) with each team member given 45 seconds to score as many baskets as they can.  The competition involves all of the public schools in South Delta and we performed extremely well.  Hawthorne finished third for Grade 6 boys and Grade 5 girls.  We also finished first for Grade 7 boys and Grade 6 girls.  Congratulations to all of our teams as each of them beat their personal best totals at this event.  Special thanks to Becca Delmar and Kylie Christopherson who had to play as substitutes for our grade 7 girls team due to illness.  Hoopshoot participants for 2014:
